Lady Lilly was a tried and true servant. Ready and willing at a moments notice to fill in the gaps where needed. Her master cared deeply for her, as if she was his own. He had been pleased as he watched her grow in understanding and wisdom. Lady Lilly loved the relationship she shared with her master. In fact, to her, he was more of a mentor/friend and less as a traditional hard task master. She prided herself in preparing whatever she could in anticipation to her masters every need. It was Lady Lilly's thought that if she could make his way easier, the end result would make him happy and satisfied. Ultimately he would be overjoyed she was his servant and thus secure her place in the palace. Or so she thought.
One day, Lady Lilly was asked to move out of her place in the palace to make room for a new servant. Thoughts of being misplaced, forgotten, and no longer being the one that filled the masters heart with joy, began to overwhelm her. "I am no longer useful. I have no place to call home. What did I do to put me in such a place?" Lady Lilly was not concerned with the new servant in the palace, her concern was with her relationship to the master. No longer having a place of her own, she began to soak in her new surroundings, wondering if she would ever have a new place in which to live and would she be able to serve the master she loved so deeply.
In the midst of her pondering her seemingly forgotten usefullness in the palace, the master entered her new world. Taken back from her lack of preparation, Lady Lilly pathetically tried to give the appearance of togetherness and confidence. One gaze into the eyes of the master, however, melted her defenses and she began to weep. Falling to her knees and begging for her position as a palace servant, Lady Lilly discovered that all she wanted was to be near him.
"What must I do to serve you in your palace again? I will scrub bathrooms, clean cattle...serve your new favored servants! Anything...please, please, let me in your palace where I can be near to you."
And then the master spoke in a strong, firm, yet quiet tone that told her she still held that special place in his heart.
"Lady Lilly, don't you see? I have set you aside for a time of refreshing. You have been faithful to serve and give your whole heart to what I have asked you to do. Now, is the time for you to just 'be' with me and let me refresh you! This is a time of rejuvination. A time of rest. But a time of preparation. A time to learn something new about me. I have loved our times together. I have found great joy in seeing the giftings I placed within you, and watch you develop in the places you have served. But there is so much more! Your worth is not dependant on what you do! It all depends on whose you are. It's not about a place in the palace, it's about a place in my kingdom. Now, with the expansion of service, comes new things, new giftings. You have only come to know a snap shot of who I am. There is so much more! The only way you can experience 'more' is to come with me. Trust me. Rely on me. Breath in everything about me."
Lady Lilly did not know what to say or think. The master continued.
"You see, I am doing a new thing within you. I know the plans I have for you, and I started a good work within you. Do you not think I will be faithful to complete it? I have never left you, nor will I ever leave. The things you find great joy in - those are my giftings that I shared with you and planted within you. Nothing can take you away from this great love that I have for you. You belong to me through a covenant. You are blessed by me through sacrifice. Our relationship goes far beyond serving in the palace."
Tears overflowed in realization that the master loved her and had plans for her far more than she could of ever imagined.
"Now, dear one, build yourself up in faith. For there is a new assignment coming. Be in my presence now because where I am sending you, you will have to remember my truth. This assignment is not something you can do in your own strength and knowledge, but only what I can do in you and through you. Get ready to receive more so you can give more. This road you are walking is coming up to the pavement - for I have paved the way for you! You will see and know which way to walk, because I will be behind you saying 'walk this way!' Do not fear, for I walk with you."
"Be excited! I'm excited too! I have seen this way you will go, and it is good. Walk in wisdom. Walk with understanding. Know whose you are. Stand firm. Be courageous! This new journey is one we walk together. You may not always see me, but just call out my name, and I will be revealed to you. Take heart! I have loved you with an everlasting love, higher than the highest mountain and deeper than the deepest sea. Noone and nothing can separate us.
Lady Lilly sat in the embrass of her master for quite sometime. He loved her, this much she knew. Come what may, this new journey was about to begin. More was here, and that was promised.
Throughout my life I've taken great joy in being the behind the scenes worker. There is nothing like seeing a would be crisis, turned into a moment of satisfaction and in some cases, relief. Although this is a safe and comfortable roll I willining put myself in, it is also a place that requires little belief that God has annointed me to do more. God is speaking to me. It's come to a time where being comfortable in service is not where he wants me. We are in the in-between. Not necessarily in the service we are accustomed to, yet not on the paved road yet. We are in the truth gathering moments that will encourage us on into faithfilled journeys that God has already prepared. We are not down, depressed, or discouraged. We do not wish to be ahead of where God has us. We rest and rejuvinate for we know that He has plans for us. Plans of hope and a future. Good plans. And for now, what do we seek? MORE of Him. MORE is promised.
